Thoughts on Les from an old newspaper friend

I have on old friend who worked in the newspaper business for several decades. When I say "old" I don't mean that we go way back. I mean he's literally old. Like his polyesters are held up by a belt around his waist old. He worked as a reporter briefly but spent just about his entire career on the business side. In other words: he knows everyone.
When Miles first got here and we began to see those incomprehensible halftime interviews I called him up.
I'll never forget what he said: "When it comes to the media Les Miles is the most secretive, manipulative coach we've ever seen at LSU. Don't believe anything he ever says."
My point: I'm not sure. I just had to get this off of my chest. Maybe my old friend really is an old friend now.
Oh, yeah, anything we know about this search is because Les is selectively releasing information. Dude, should be in the CIA.

Miles told us himself he's just being "deceptively honest".
I think he views the media and the opponent on the field as participants in a grand poker game.

Just to let you and your dumb friend know. All coaches lie. Not because the don't care about the fans but they have to care about what recruits think and other coaches think or can be used against them. Just to let most people know coaches don't give two shits what the average dumbass fan thinks. Just read 75 percent of this board and you'll quickly realize why. The average fan is just a idiot with an opinion.

Les believes in "don't offer up ANY information that you absolutely do not have to offer up" type of an approach. That does not mean he is smart in other areas, it just means he is smart in that one way.

I have been to several clinics and he is nothing like what you see on TV. I think he does the best "Columbo" act of any person I know! I have been saying it was an act for a long time.
