Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the FDB. I had a slow weekend due to the amount of work I have set for this week. But all in all it wasn't too shabby of a calorie count.

After work on Friday, I ran home to a double of Beam. After finishing that, the lady and I headed to the WHD to dine. We had plans to go see Robin Barnes sing at the Polo Club Lounge at the Windsor Court. We decided on Rock-n-Sake.

I should have known better. The sushi chefs were non-Asian. I ordered squid salad, miso soup, escolar sushi, and salmon sashimi.

The miso soup was very buttery, and the squid salad was your stereotypical bucket of squid salad from any Asian market. The escolar sushi was very small, however it was delicious. The sashimi was sliced extremely thin, and was not very filling. I always feel like I've been robbed when I dine there. The only selling point on this place may be that a lot of girls get dolled up to go there before going out.

After dinner, we walked to the Polo Lounge. It was freezing. I had to stop at the valet at the Harrah's hotel to defrost under their heaters. Thanks, Harrahs.

Upon arrival, I ordered a Fall version of an Old Fashion. I was good, but it didn't have the bite I was looking for. On the second round, I went with Elijah Craig up.

We left after an hour, because I planned on working Saturday morning.

On Saturday morning, I awoke at the crack of dawn. I was starving from the night before. I ran to Surrey's and grabbed the Costa Rican breakfast with boudin and poached eggs. It comes with brown rice, avocado, pico de gallo and cheese.

This was exactly what I was looking for. The flavors were fantastic and the portions filled me up. My only regret was putting a little habanero hot sauce on top. I would pay for that later.

After leaving fat and happy, I ran to the office to grind out some work. I received a couple calls from friends to meet them for drinks. I decided to quit around one.

We headed to the Courtyard Brewery. I have seen a lot about them in the news and on Twitter. I'm not much of a beer drinker so my expectations were low. I usually just stick with High Life, PBR and Budweiser.

The bar itself is not very fancy. The furniture consisted of several middle school cafeteria chairs thrown about with a few end tables. There were a lot of dudes there.

I went with something called a Turtle Neck (9%) first. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure how to describe it.

The bartender suggested my second beer. I think she liked me because we were discussing rugby positions. I don't recall what it was, but it was 11%. It was my favorite of the two. My buddy went with my original beer. Some girls came in while I was leaving.

I headed to Lafitte's from there to meet a friend who was supposed to meet us at the brewery. Unfortunately, she caught the bridge and the train.

The bar was rocking. Some old ladies were playing some Kid Rock, Vanilla Ice, etc. I think the main bitch may have even been pregnant.

The bar has long been rumored to be haunted. It was the first time I was able to catch a drink with a member of the American militia.

After a discussion on guns and crime, I decided to order some cheesy tots.

Since I had not eaten lunch, these things filled me up. We had plans for dinner at 7:30.

After a few more Beams, we returned home to shower. My mom doesn't appreciate me smelling like a bottle of bourbon at the table.

I hadn't been to Charlie's in about two years. I grabbed a drink at the bar and waited to be seated. I find it very odd that they don't give patrons menus when ordering. I was picking up the bill, so I was wondering what the collateral damage would be.

We all got side salads with bleu cheese, filets. We also shared sides of potatoes au gratin, mushrooms, cream spinach and steamed vegetables.

All the steaks were ordered medium rare and came out as such. They tasted good but not great. The sides were all delicious. My favorite was the spinach. I recall saying that it was "fricking delicious" at the table. I don't curse in front of my mom. The Beam must have gotten the best of me.

For dessert we went with Brocato's spumoni and pistachio ice cream. They're as good as it gets.

Charlie's was good, but I would not put it in the same park with Mr. John's, Desi's, Doris, et al. We had a good time.

After dinner, I think I went home to pass out.

After mass on Sunday, I went to 12 Mile for brunch. They have a build your own burrito or biscuit. While I was deciding on what to fill my burrito with, I ordered a Baudin, which had bourbon, honey, lemon, and Tabasco. I forgot to take a picture of it. It was spicy. I wouldn't recommend going down on someone after consuming that drink for at least ten minutes.

Anyway, I decided to go with pimento cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, egg, and smoked sausage. I believe I created a masterpiece.

The grits were out of this world. They were extremely creamy, and I would put them up against anyone else.

You know I couldn't leave without ordering a piece of king cake doberge "to go." I love that thing.

After brunch, I walked down to Finn's to watch the Cowgirls go down in defeat.

After the game, we headed to Whole Food to pick up some cheese for dinner. Who the hell shops there? I had not been there in at least five years. I was overwhelmed by the people there and what was in their baskets. I couldn't make out what half of the shite was. My God, some people must live extremely miserable lives.

On my way out, I wanted to grab a coffee at District to stay regular. I cannot go in there without ordering chocolate milk. I love chocolate milk. This was all that was left from my walk across the street.

For dinner, we threw some cheese and bread out and threw on re-runs of The Wire. I polished of the entire portion of pate.

We also picked at this half smoked chicken. I thought it was pretty good, and it was on sale.

Stay fat, my friends.

I love the smoked chicken thighs at WF. Never see them at the UPT location though. Nice weekend. Might have to ride my fixie over to 12 mile next Sunday for breakfast.

Charlie's Steakhouse

This is getting scary now. I ate there for the first time in about 10 years last week.

I went during the week, though. I've never seen their blue cheese look that creamy, though. Mine certainly didn't.

There's a program of the Leonard/Duran 'No Mas' fight hanging on the wall when you walk into the bar. Owner claims they are the reason for 'No Mas', as Duran supposedly came in and ate two steaks after weigh in, which gave him stomach cramps in the fight. Yeah, I should have told him, CSB.
