Is there a more tragic character than Theon Greyjoy, ever?

It's pretty damn awful. While GRRM has his writing faults, he's been incredibly good at writing these character arcs that really make you question how you feel about them. You start out rolling your eyes at Theon's smug arse, hating him when everything goes down at Winterfell, and then you end up kind of rooting for him to frick some people up after what he endures at the hands of the Boltons.

His transformation to Reek is .

I think it's charming that there are so many readers of young adult fantasy novels on this board.

Theon Greyjoy can rot in hell. No sympathy for him.

I feel bad for him. A lot of people seem to hate him because he betrayed the Starks, but I think it's a bit more complicated than that. He was a hostage of the Starks. He was just trying to make a place for himself among his own people, but it was too late for that. He wasn't strong enough, and the Iron Islands were no longer his home.

Then he gets horribly tortured and has his dick cut off. shite just wasn't cool.

Before I jump in here, is this a Hodor thread?

I'm towards the end of Book 3.

Not my intention to spoil anything. I was thinking of tragic characters and his to me seems the most tragic.

He becomes a ward of the Starks and returns home to find a father who scorns him and a sister that took his place at his fathers side. Then he has to choose between his adopted family, one which he is reminded daily of how he is not really a part of, and his real family which thinks he's become a Stark and treats him has such. So, he's really on his own no matter what he does. Damned either way. He's very immature and just self implodes with his poor decision making which is driven by his desire to belong. I started out disliking him but as I got to understand his situation I wound up feeling so bad for the guy.

He was Theon, for a moment when taking Moat Caitlin. Then back to being a bitch in the pound. I really hope he comes full circle and kills that fricking maniac. Maybe he turns the bitches on Ramsey. What sweet irony that would be.
