disagree here. A player that is sieve defensively will be exploited by great teams to the extent that he hurts his team. Secondly, open shots are great for the other four players, but that is what the defense wants (i.e. "make someone else beat you")

Some sort of two way play is needed. The better defenders can find roles in the offense (Roll Man, Corner guy, Rim Runner,etc.) much easier than masking a bad defensive player every possession.

The Great Defender affects the 8 feet around him; the Great Offensive player affects the entire court at any time.

I'd much rather have a rebounder that they try to pound and attack, than the guy they can ignore one the offensive end.
