Why don't more companies encourage employees to nap on lunch breaks?

I did not sleep well last night and was exhausted the second I stepped into the office. At lunch I decided to find an empty room, turn off the lights, and nap for 30 or so minutes rather than eat right away.

I was able to nap and eat lunch in about 45 minutes, and now I feel like a million pennies. I will likely be more productive this afternoon because of it. And by productive, I mean doing 10 minutes of work for every 5 I spend on here.

Why don't more companies encourage their employees to rest during their breaks if they need it? Seems like a win-win.

tl;dr- I took a nap.

I agree. I do this from time to time. If you're salaried or have to clock out for lunch - it seems like a no-brainer. Makes you more productive, easier to work with/for, and leads to overall better health and longevity.

This is ridiculous, every organization/firm/company I have worked for has encouraged breaks, napping, and reflective time whenever anyone needs it. It's the 21st century after all.

In Japan, they have places with these beds that slide in and out of a wall, like a drawer. It's like a morgue with the bed turned the opposite way (long side parallel with the wall). Businessmen go and take naps during the day in them. We need those in the states.

When I visited Spain they had a siesta time where all the shops closed for an hour or so. Sounded awesome.

Lunch nookie works wonders, not sure if it benefits work but it sure does benefit me.

Why don't they encourage people to get a good night's sleep before coming to work.

Maybe because how you spend your off time is your own damn business.

Why does your company have any say in what you do on your lunch break?

I close the door to my office during lunch quite often, sometimes to take a quick power nap. My manager doesn't care, as long as I handle my shite, which I do.
