Because recruiting goes on even if you don't want it to. The kids you are trying to sign, will not sign if you fire or jerk around the guys you send out to recruit them. This isn't rocket science.

There is NO excuse for having defensive staff sign extensions prior to your coordinator.
Even Chavis recruited to the bitter end knowing he was leaving. The staff would not have treated recruits any differently waiting on Chavis to sign.
