gaming laptop or desktop?

What would be better to build on say a $900 budget? I would want to be able to have a laptop so I can play anywhere. But I can deal with a desktop.

$900 isn't going to go nearly as far for a laptop as it would a desktop.

Desktop is far superior, especially at $900. $900 is maybe an entry level gaming laptop.
