Hopefully we can find a duo to put out this sort of production. These guys just had it.

I thought they underachieved their last year at LSU, but Mingo started going off at the end of the year and was really impressive against Clemson. It sounds like Arden Key may be on his way and I think he's ahead of Mingo as a DE prospect at this point. Mingo was a freakish athlete though and seized his opportunity quickly.

Mingo was a mobile QB killer.

Those were some up years. I miss those fast first step guys like Mingo and Alem. I think we have also missed the powerful defensive ends that can play the run and win one on one blocks. Jackson, Spears, Hill, Adams, Francois, Edwards...

I miss Mingo. I don't miss Sam disappearing in games or being the last off the ball on almost every down.

Sam stepped up in EVERY big game. Check the stats, he played his best against the best competition.
Those ends were great, but I think Brockers/Logan were the real keys to that line. We need to get back to being able to rush the passer.

A Texans blog did a really good analysis of Sam's 2012 season after he got drafted. Really explained why he lined up a little bit behind the other guys/ further off the LOS and what his responsibilities were. In the run game, he did things you'd expect from a bigger DE and really helped the LBs stay clean.
