If Chavis would walk into the empty cupboard scenerio at aTm for 1yr & a little more money, I'm sure Smith would have no problem inheriting a treasure trove of youth & NFL-esque talent at LSU for a little more money. Chavis' "supposed" move to aTm proves ANYTHING is possible.

Smith's emphasized stopping the run first. In a LOS scrimmage league and Division, that's an excellent MO. They have played well and he's a big reason. Wouldn't be pissed if he got an interview.

Different circumstances. Chavis sees signs that Miles' time at LSU may be coming to an end soon, and Chavis wants security while he is still considered a top DC in the game. Smith is set at Arkansas for as long as Bert is there and Bert is trending up, not down like Miles. Why would Smith hitch his career to Miles on the decline instead of riding the huge wave of momentum he and Bert have built this last year?

Garrett on the line next to Daylon Mack is not exactly an empty cupboard. Game is won on the LOS.
