About to start back up around here. Just stocked up on swim baits and bought some more of those Rapala cranks that guy was killing them on Toledo last year. I usually start with slow rolled spinnerbaits to see if they are active. C-Rig if nothing hits that.

This slow rolled/yo yo over deep grass beds. Rip it thru the grass some. And use the small size.

I have caught a lot of fish the last two years on jigging spoons at Toledo in December/January. Once they start moving up, it's hard to beat spinnerbaits and rattle traps

Based on the past few years of moving around:
In Louisiana I fish a beetle spin in the larger size, typically a black and yellow with gold spinner. I mainly fish back in the brackish marshes around either Slidell or Irish Bayou. This is my favorite thing to throw this time of year. I love working areas where bayous intersect with duck ponds.
In Arkansas I liked to work a smaller sized jig in a brown / black color with a rubber crawfish trailer or black sweet beaver.
Here in Florida where I live now I keep at least one rod rigged up with a white fluke tied on year round.
