Loved re-watching the show just to pinpoint where each character "fricked up" the game which lead to their demise.
String never should have told Avon about D. He lost his cool and brought emotion into it, and that's a bad recipe. Not sure if Avon would have been so quick to turn over String if he didn't find out about DeAngelo.
Give me Partlow all day. He always seemed meticulous about his killings.

Which leads to the question who wins in a winner take all "muscle" war?
WeeBay vs Slim vs Partlow vs (pre-prison)Cutty?

FTR, I find Stringer as a character who absolutely is propped by the charismatic Idris Elba. Also, given the nature of who watches The Wire a character like Bell appeals to egotistic self-recognized intellectuals.
Bell got duped by Prop Joe, the real cunning one, who got duped by Marlo because Cheese was a bitch, which if he had been taken out completely by Muzone in Season 2 (which Bell prevented) Joe's organization could have been up for grabs. The Greeks don't give a shite Joe so the connect could have very well been in play.
Keep the NY connection strong, take out Joe's nephew, possibly bring down his organization, control market share. Maybe get a sit down the Greeks.
Avon saw The Game in slow motion (Avon Enters The Pit scene), even told String he saw Davis play him from "a mile away"...he had a plan, but Stringer was too ambitious. Since Season 2 and 3 were about how Stringer thought he was ahead but was really "Streets Behind"(Pierce!), the storyline needed to move forward about the ever evolving nature of the jungle, The Barksdales were phased out of the story.
Except for Avon, who finally took down his nemesis, Prop Joe via Marlo.

Yeah, prolly Partlow, though it's tough to bet against WeeBay. That dude was hard.
