Anything you place in the room will help reduce echo.
Pictures, nick-knacks, rugs, drapes, furniture, etc.
The more fabric, (rather than wood/metal), the better.
I wish the owners/designers of Canes would recognize this problem.

Anything you put on the walls and floors will break up the sound waves. Tapestries and area rugs will diminish the echo.
You can try hanging just some fabric (even blankets) in different places to test the muting from different placements.
