It's both, but mostly the floors. My neighbor thought he was so smart putting in concrete, but their backs hurt and their house is very loud too. We have 12 ft ceilings and hardwood and ours was noisy at first. So I got bigger rugs and more furniture. Also rearranged furniture. No more echoing.
