This can be considered a lateral move or a step down considering in four years he went to three NFC championship games and one Super Bowl.
This will be interesting to see. I think he'll find that Ohio State and Michigan State are tougher competitors than when he was at UM and tougher now than in the 90s and from 2000 to 2010.
Plus Penn State appears to be headed in the right direction. I think he'll do a reverse Saban. Go to college for a few years and find the NFL to be better.

It's totally plausible. Or maybe he has in fact realized that his style won't work long-term in the NFL - that he will eventually lose any ownership, front office, and locker room in time. That kind of realization should be saluted.
