Why waste time taking a 2 year old to something like that? Are they really making memories?

We "waste" time doing things like that with her because it's making memories. She may not remember it but I'd imagine any parent wants their child to have a good childhood. Do you expect them to just keep her in the house like a recluse? After seeing her eyes wide with amazement at all the lights, I can understand the appeal of doing things like that.
