Best advice: Fly instead. 
But really, don't rush through it (unless you are pressed for time). If you see something interesting or google stuff that is in the cities you will be driving through, just stop and check it out. If you don't do that, then you may as well have flown.

I fly 10-15 times a year, so that's not an issue, however this trip is unique and I have to drive.
I am pressed for time, so scenic trips won't really be happening.
