most fascinating thing about this thread is how a communist like you is so anti-labor

Every team attempts to play 19 games a year. But 18 is "unfair."

Being that 19 is more than 18, I don't really have to. The players are just dishonest with the "unfair" thing. The truth is probably something involving them not wanting to punch the clock for two more weeks.
To call two extra games unfair, you have to willfully ignore that a player's playing time can be budgeted. Baseball figured this out with pitch counts; teams do this to maximize the effectiveness they get out of their workhorses. If a starter sits out one series per football game, he'll play about the same number of snaps in an 18-game schedule as he does currently.
Basically, 18 games is unfair if you're stupid.

You have to be trolling to keep trotting out this utterly retarded "logic." Surely you can't be this stupid, can you?
But let's pretend you're serious. Carrying your "logic" further, apparently you think sitting out one series per game over 18 regular season games would have an equal effect for a player's body's healing process as sitting out for two consecutive weeks. Do you actually think this?

Obviously playing less in a game gives you less from which to heal. How that stacks up against the two extra games begs some sort of balance, sure. But, there's 53 guys on the team. They're suited up to play if needed. If you do something so much that you can't do it 18 times a year, why isn't reeling it back a tad a viable option, especially when there are fresh bodies behind you?
I have a similar view of NBA players claiming to be fatigued in their 82 game schedule. There's 7 guys on the bench. If you need relief, be relieved.

It is though. It is the only way to take your "logic" further. If you don't feel that way, you don't agree with your own original statement.

Maybe sit out a series per game. Maybe two. Maybe more. Use platoons. Whatever works. You have 53 pieces for 60 minutes. There is more than enough room to mitigate the risk through which starting players will go in an 18 game schedule.

Like its just that easy with no repercussions. The coach usually has a say in things like this

Ok, so the only other way to further it is to drop the quality of the game just to have more games. Great plan.
ETA: No coach is going to sit his star players for any series unless they absolutely have to. Everything you're saying is stupid.

quote:sorry for overlooking this. The NFLPA fights for the rights of players to use drugs that make their bodies unrealistically big and strong to the point that this sport is killing them, and the body count will only rise. This, and not the idea of playing 18 games, is what is truly harmful to the players.
Labor (the NFLPA), who was opposed to 18 games, doesn't get to decide when it's time to call off the dogs, management (the head coaches) does.

Don't attribute to me points I have not made and opinions I don't have. I said that it isn't unfair. The players are dishonest when they make that assertion.

You do have them. Your words are right there. For you to say "sitting one series per game is enough to account for two extra games" (paraphrased), that means you must think what I said you did. If not, your point hold no meaning. Making it stupid. Like I said.
