I have seen Chromebooks before but never gave them much thought until I saw 480's thread. I currently have a Macbook Pro that is on its last leg. Its old and I have gotten 4 spinning wheels so far typing this. I just want something to play on the internet with as I have 2 work computers and an old desktop for Word and other intense programs.
Which Chromebook has the best specs and would you recommend for under $300? I found a few on Best Buy.com but the specs seem to be almost the exact same but prices range from $250-$300+.
Thanks and Ill be around to answer questions.

If you insist on a Chromebook, consider one with an NVidia Tegra. Will probably do a little better graphically in web apps, which is more important than raw CPU performance in these things.
Also, 4GB of RAM minimum or you'll eventually get frustrated.
