The "black people tip bad because they get bad service from white waiters who don't want to wait on them" myth is a lie. You can give perfect service to them and many will still complain.

Not a lie for me.

My wife and I are both educated professionals. It is rare that we get a night out to ourselves, so we really look forward to going out. 90% of the time we have no issues.

Every once in a while we will get a server who clearly wants nothing to do with us for whatever reason. Now, when we look around and see you clearly being more attentive to your other customers and short changing us, don't expect a great tip.

Stereotype if you want, but i'm not going to tip you based off of black shame. We have tipped more then the meal cost when we were blown away by the great service, and I have had servers I didn't leave a penny.

Understand this, I don't control anybody else's actions except my own. All I ask is to be treated like you would treat any other man. You can carry any notions that you want, but just don't go bitching when I return the gesture.

Every once in a while. Know what that means? You probably just got a shite server. Or an a-hole.

Your average server isn't going to treat you differently just because you're black.

Also. Attitude goes a long way. I get asked almost every time I dine out if I work in the service industry. I don't anymore, but my servers always know I did. Know why? Because everything is "Oh thank you so much" and "take your time, no rush at all"

Just saying things in a genuine manner make it VERY obvious what kind of person (and tipper) you are. If you and your wife are super polite like that, which I assume you are if you get good service 90% of the time, nobody is stereotyping you.

That's everyone in the world. That's being a customer. It isn't necessarily a race thing. I'm white. When I go out to eat 90% of the time I get decent to good service. 10% of the time I get shitty service, and sometimes the server is rude. That's the way the world works.
