I wonder if I would confess to a double murder I didn't commit at age 14 short of being tortured.

Even assuming he's guilty (which he very well could be), executing a 14 year old is fricked up, regardless of his color.

Not as fricked up if the dead guy was a budding serial killer. Jmo

Adults have confessed to murders they didn't commit. Its conceivable a kid would do the same.

Look, the kid may have been guilty, but this whole thing stinks to high heaven.

What about killing a 11 and 7 year old for no reason? This is more fricked up in my opinion.

Adults of what intelligence? I was smart at age 14.

I'm sure this kid was eating skilttles minding his own business. When he saw the girls he put his hands up and said don't shoot. They wrongfully took him in and gave an unjust sentence
In 1944 this actually a very real possibility

That's fricked up.

It's a true example of how screwed up society was in some ways. I don't think younger people can really grasp legitimate racism as it existed 70 years ago.

To put things into perspective, we now have people screaming "racism" over white men moving their laptop bag. That seems even more insane after reading the OP.

What I would like to know is what evidence they had that his confession was coerced. His age alone doesn't do it for me.

If I recall correctly, they were not very smart.

Right because people really want to hear the facts of a case instead of playing off the color of the poor little person who they want to be the victim.

The unsettling part was that a 14 year old was executed. Him being guilty wouldn't be as shocking.

To be fair, this was just a scenario I posed that wasn't based on anything. I don't actually know if the confession was coerced.

No, that's fine. The article says, I think, the judge found his confession was most likely coerced. To me, either it was or it wasn't, and evidence matters.
