There is no bench. I hire only enough to get the job done. If someone isn't good enough to be a starter I'll replace them with someone who is.

I plan to lose at least 15% a year to promotions, and I like that. Attracts replacements easily. I don't want people just happy where they are in these positions.

This, and I have equity within the company now. I'm considered a "partner." Albeit a very, very small one.
