rantards on a message board are not the pulse of the fanbase
But counting the sheer numbers of them, I think you can find a pulse.
I would guess the number of responses on this site have been about 70% in favor of mama calling the Michigan man home, and I ain't talking about Harbaugh.
Now, I'm not debating what people should be pulling for. I'm just pointing out that the earlier quote "so the LSU fan base can rest easy", is pretty silly. You can claim that this board doesn't give a good reflection of the total fan base, and I think there is some small merit to that. But it's not a completely inaccurate reflection. In fact, sometimes people are more truthful to their beliefs on here than they would be in real life.

December is the Miles lovers favorite time, because they can go back to pretending to be justified in saying that we should be happy to have Les. That's usually not possible during the actual season.

The fact that you are celebrating this tells me that are someone who strives for mediocrity. You know the kind of person who has a life-long goal of being middle management.
Let's not take the risk of bringing in someone who might actually utilize our offensive talent and give us a chance to be great, let's just stick with the guy that stockpiles the talent, doesn't really use it, plays it safe and wins 9-10 per year.

Most people I talk to off the board are firmly in the negatiger camp. The people that aren't are mostly just in the "I can put up with Les because he wins games" camp but don't think that highly of him. The ULL fans I know just say that we don't like Les because he followed Saban. They like to pretend they are more reasonable than we are.
The pro-Miles stance is over represented on this board if anything.

How much does it piss you off that Nick Saban is on the cusp of going 5-0 against him since 1-9? We are no longer competitive with the class of our own division.

Not at all anymore. I, like many LSU fans, have reached a point of apathy regarding Miles, with our emotions only rising when we play Alabama or when Michigan fires a coach.
I'm sorry I hurt your feelings, though. I'm sure you're not a bad guy.

Hit close to home?
Yeah, the Pro-Miles crowd is certainly over represented here. Every fan I talk to at Tiger Stadium, traveling to away games, etc. is tired of the same crap on offense.

So you've spoken to Les Miles personally then?

Is that professional in any way?
Several of those idiots who took to twitter to blast what Miles told them are not really professional. Hell, most aren't even real journalists! Wake up, most sports sites are not run by journalists but by glorified fans - fan-alysts - if you will. Now a collection of these fanalysts can organize a website and next thing you know they show up on sports talk radio as experts on whatever sport or team or get quoted in various places. Sbnation is nothing more than a bunch of bloggers - fanalysts - organized around teams in the major sports. And there's plenty more out there. All I can say is reader beware.

I won't disagree with this.
My small sample of this would be that 6 of my friends usually send group messages during the games. These are 6 life-long LSU football fans. Most of the texts are 4 guys griping, 1 guy defending what we are watching, and 1 guy sitting on the side laughing at all the comments. We aren't "young college punks who don't remember the 90s".
Also, go hang out at any local country club and strike up a conversation with all the old golfers that remember the Charlie Mac years. The ratio of Miles bashers/supporters looks pretty similar there as it does here.

You don't think I'm stupid, dude. You and I are just looking at Miles through different lenses.
I am a selfish fan that wants to enjoy LSU football. Miles makes it more difficult to do that. It seems to me that Miles tries to minimize the risk and speed up the game so that at the end his more talented team has more points, even if it means not even attempting to maximize the results given the available talent. That bothers me, even if we squeak out a win, because it's not enjoyable to watch (during the actual game), and again, I'm a selfish fan who wants to enjoy the game I spend 3 hours watching.
You, on the other hand, see your fandom as some sort of moral issue and feel obligated to look at things in a positive light. Wins, however they come, allow you to do that. I can totally see where you're coming from, and it's certainly a reasonable stance if one sees one's fandom as a moral issue. I just think it's ridiculous to see sports in that way.
Plus, being a positiger makes you feel superior to the selfish fans like me, and that's a bonus for you.
Peace be with you, Choctaw.
