Good deal for Yankees imo

Also worth noting: they may have done so, at least at third base, better than the Red Sox did:
Pablo Sandoval, 2012-2014: .759 OPS, 116 OPS+, 8.2 WAR, $90 million Chase Headley, 2012-2014: .782 OPS, 123 OPS+, 13.6 WAR, $50 million

Not a bad price at all. I don't think headley will be all that great for the yanks though.

He has been better than Panda over the past 3 seasons and that is playing in Perco

Very good deal. Plus, he is excellent with the glove while Sandoval is excellent with a fork.

Chase's last 3 year totals are a little misleading because he has an MVP level season in there that is a total anomaly for his whole career. So there numbers are closer to identical. Either way, its a very reasonable contract for the yankees.
He may be able to take advantage of the short RF with his switch hitting.

Even if you look at just the past 2 years Headley has posted a .700 OPS and a .747 while Pablo has a .739 and .759 over last 2 years so it makes it close and that is with Headley playing mostly in Petco.
I think Headley can post a .750 Ops over the course of the deal

Solid plate, field, clubhouse. Nice work, Cash.

Also super charitable guy. Taking that deal instead of the 4/65 that his camp claims they were offered.

Meh.
I mean, he's a good player and all.
But meh.
So is A-Rod really just a DH next year?

That's just the going rate, I guess.

Oh look, its an entitled cardinals fan.
Headly is not a world beater but 3rd base is tough. Last two years he's 9th in WAR for 3rd base
Last 3 years he's 5th
Last 4 years he's 4th

I think the yanks got a pretty good price, especially considering who was available this year.
I still don't think headly is that good, but I wouldn't mock the yanks over the price paid.

He's about 30 years old now right? I think the Yankees got a good deal. There aren't a great amount of good 3B in league anymore and they at least didn't overpay for him like I thought they would.
