I've had no problems over the years with the cheapest cables from Monoprice and Amazon up to 15 feet long.

I thought that was the case. But I just got a new Samsung TV (previously had a Toshiba that kept freezing up) and the picture doesn't look as good as i thought it would. Only difference is i used a different HDMI cable. Probably just my eyes playing tricks on me.

Same for me. Interestingly, I have used HDMI cables from other sources at similar price points that have given me problems.
