What is Brandt's motivation?
he is an 80+ year old NFL commentator, who the hell knows why he is tweeting about it? There has to be some reason he said it with ZERO corroboration. Now you have Duke issuing an outright denial that contact was officially made (which would be pretty much required for a real job offer)

UM contacted Miles' agent, did not offer Cutcliffe
Angelique S. Chengelis, The Detroit News 10:24 a.m. EST December 10, 2014
Michigan, which is in the midst of searching for a new football coach, has reached out to LSU coach Les Miles through his agent, a source close to the situation told The Detroit News on Tuesday.
Another source with knowledge of the Michigan search said there was no truth to a report late Tuesday that Duke coach David Cutcliffe had turned down the job. Gil Brandt, a longtime NFL personnel executive and now an NFL.com analyst, wrote on Twitter that Cutcliffe had been made an offer.
Michigan interim athletic director Jim Hackett is leading the search to replace Brady Hoke, fired eight days ago after four seasons. Hackett is using a search firm to assist in the search, as was reported last week in The Detroit News. Those firms often are used to reach out to potential candidates to see if they would be interested. The search firm presumably has contacted a number of coaches, but those contacts do not necessarily mean those coaches are targets.
Former Michigan quarterback and current San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh is considered the favored candidate by Hackett.
But Miles has deep ties to Michigan, as well. He played for Bo Schembechler and also served as an assistant coach for the Wolverines. Miles' agent, George Bass, has not returned a request for comment.
According to The Advocate newspaper in Baton Rouge, La., LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said he has not been contacted by anyone regarding Miles.

I honestly think a large portion of the rumors are just people making shite up because they're hearing absolutely nothing from Michigan.
Michigan's man is Jim Harbaugh and we won't hear anything until December 29th about a hire.

This is all starting to make sense now.......Cutcliffe was contacted but it was to see if he had any interest in coming to LSU if Miles went to Michigan.
Cutcliffe is one of the coaches I think LSU should "consider" IF Miles go to Michigan. He has a proven track record with qb development plus extensive knowledge of the SEC. He would not be a flashy hire, but a very good hire.
Im so glad rumor and innuendo is accepted on the coaches board.
