Venting; Bowl times can't be good for CFB

I have been holding in my frustration since the news leaked yesterday, but I'm going to go ahead and vent now to get it out of my system so I can move on.
Houston was our best option. Prime time game against Texas the Monday night after the holiday weekend. Great for recruits, media exposure, travel options, proximity to alum and fan base, etc. Memphis could have been a close second. I could have swung a day off to travel to Houston or Memphis, as many other Tiger fans I know. But Nashville at 2:00 PM, during the middle of a work day after a holiday weekend is probably the worst bowl slot of them all after maybe the Taxslayer Bowl (which is during the middle of the day on Friday, January 2).
Seriously, the Independence Bowl may have higher TV ratings than ours this year because it's on a Saturday, on ABC. Do you know how many bowl games ABC is carrying this year? Three; and the INDEPENDENCE BOWL is one of them.
Yes, I understand that we are playing Notre Dame. I love beating the Irish in bowls, but no one will be watching this one outside of LSU and a diminishing ND faithful. There may be a few working people here and there who will cut on a television during a late lunch break to say, "oh crap, there's a bowl game on today," and watch a few minutes, but that's it.
I read last year that combined bowl tickets sells and television ratings are dropping. Yes, one cause is the shear number of sub-par bowl games. But the horrible schedule is another major contributing factor, in my opinion. Only 4 of the 12 SEC bowls this year are during prime time. This can't be good for college football at the end of the day.
Anyway, venting done. I'm over it. Guess I need to request the afternoon of the 30th off now. Feel free to flame away below. Merry frickin' Christmas and Geaux Tigers.

Thank you for posting this.
I agree 100%.
Bowl games should not be televised during the day on a work day.
At least not ones that a supposedly "big" program like LSU would go to.

Really can't argue with you. With that said LP Field is closer to where I am than Tiger Stadium. Just ordered 3 tix for the game and am excited.

Great for recruits,
So you are that guy too. Explain the "good for recruits" angle to me, please.

Personally I think the matchup with ND will be good for you guys. But yeah the game should NOT be on during day-time. That to me makes no sense.

I bought my tickets yesterday before realizing it was a 2:00 game on a Tuesday
thankfully I live in Nashville

You corncobs will complain about anything.

It's ND. The ratings will be high.

Want a better bowl? Win more games. It's that simple.

I own the company and I'm giving everyone the afternoon of the 30th, the 31st and Jan 1 off. What's the problem?

I'd like to see the bowls more spread out so they all get decent timeslots

It's a meaningless bowl game. I can't believe this actually bothers you. We lost 4 games for crying out loud. How does the time that a 4 loss team plays affect CFB one way or the other?

Do you not understand how to program a DVR?

Agree completely. I totally don't understand why they would show a game that wasn't on a holiday or a weekend during the day! I don't have that day off and will not get to see much of the game. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!

We have 1 day game all year and people start bitching...
Joke. This is a stupid game time.

Perhaps it is a good bit warmer in Nashville in late December during the day than it is at night, and therefore a much more pleasurable experience for the players, coaches, and fans that go
It's not your birthright to be able to attend (or even watch).every LSU game ever played. If it conflicts with your work, Oh well, that's part of being a grown up. Not that we have too terribly many of those on here. Jesus Christ, what a bunch of miserably whiny counts most of you are.
