For the most part yet. Weening her off things is a little nerve racking. I'm trying not to think of the bill.

It's been hell today at work, just got a chance to check out the update. That's great news man!

She's beautiful, man. Didn't even see all of what went on until now. The last I knew is that your wife was getting close. So sorry to hear that y'all have gone through this, but I'm very happy to hear that everything has improved. My wife is a heart patient that had her first surgery as a baby, then I watched her go through one five years ago and I can relate to how nerve-racking it all is. You seem to have an unbelievably positive approach to everything and that is very important. I'll be thinking and praying for you and your family, hoping you guys are home for the holidays.

Thanks. She is improving so what can I be upset about? I got to hold her for the first time today and a week ago I didn't know if that would ever happen.

That's amazing, man. I'm very happy that y'all are able to start seeing some more joy. If my wife is proof of anything, it's that they come out these experiences an even tougher fighter than any of us could ever become.

Congratulations. What was the problem? If you feel like going through this again.

It's in the thread I believe but long story short she had a heart valve that didn't open at birth like it was supposed to.

Off oxygen completely and doing well. Good chance we go home this week.

Awesome
When you go home, is it smooth sailing from that point or do they anticipate her needing some special care/follow-ups?

Checkups for years basically but I'll take it. There shouldn't be any acute problems.

Yeah, checkups are sure as hell better than follow-up procedures. My son will basically have 4 doctors (or people he sees) for a little while -- neurosurgeon, orthotics specialist, physical therapist, and regular pediatrician. It becomes a part of life pretty quickly.

I feel like checkups will ease concern too.

At some point today they are moving us to another floor with less supervision. Getting her to feed regularly is the big step now and if that goes well then we could go home Tuesday /Wednesday.

We are basically on our own now, just in a hospital. This is very different and shite just got real

So after my boy was born, I was expecting he would stay in the hospital nursery for the night so we could get some sleep. But I found out that not all hospitals have a nursery. So yeah, it got real pretty quick for us.

It's a lot of what to do when. Should we change her now or later? She's moving, what does this mean? Should I just leave her alone? It's a new life now.
