I feel like I got screwed out of a spot and I'm coming here to bitch about it.

I was the 4 seed in playoffs. It's an ESPN league and was set up in 2 divisions. ALL season it's shown top 4 overall as playoff spots. 2 weeks ago, the commish told me that the rules for the league are usually top 2 in each division. He took a league vote and they all voted to keep it. Again, this is 10 weeks into the season. Everyone is biased.
I'm 8-5 and the team getting in over me is 6-7.
I'm just going to be an a-hole and bench my whole team for the consolation game this week and inform the commish that I won't be playing with them again.
What do y'all think?

I don't think that will hurt them. It was a consensus that's how they play though. You now know for next year or just dont join again.

Should base it off points scored

I know how you feel. I long to be in a league where the commish acts as an impartial mediator instead of an emperor. My commish just expanded playoffs from 4 to 6 teams to get himself in.

I suspect that your league was 2 division winners plus 2 wild cards make playoffs, which often ends up being the top 2 in each division. So I suspect they are confused in that aspect. Most espn standard leagues are 2 division winners and 2 wild cards(no matter division).

The 3 playoff teams besides you are obviously going to vote for the lesser team to be in the playoffs, and so is the lesser team. Them plus you is half the league. The other half isn't affected either way so they are probably disinterested. I don't think a vote is fair because everyone is either biased or doesn't care. How hard would it have been to go into league settings at the beginning of the season and set it how it's wanted? They had it at top 4 all year, it should stay that way. Changing rules midstream is a major no-no in my book.

I've never understood the point of divisions in fantasy. Why not put everyone in the same division, then top 4 or 6 teams, depending on 10 or 12 team league, respectively, get into the playoffs. W/L record is the seeder and total points for is the tie breaker.

This is an area I agree with Matthew Berry's rants. If your league doesn't have a written set of rules, you go by what's on the league page. Period. Voting to change rules midstream is the height of bullshite.
