i really don't see how anyone can say he has improved after running on A&M...probably the worst defense in the conference. We choked in the red zone again having to settle for field goals. We better hope Harris doesn't transfer because the QB situation will be fricked for another 3 years if he does. It is almost derelict what this coaching staff has done to this program

If this was AJ's first or second game performance, I would be happy.

And I've been pumping and focusing on the positives, but this is fair - this is early-mid season improvement, not the end of a sophomore year.

But, if you look at how little he got to play last year, even in blowouts, and again how little Harris is playing, even in blowouts (although it was more and he did have a horrific outing in a start, on the road, at Auburn), it's amazing that we are here, about to have 2 QBs, a sophomore and a junior, and how little they have played despite that tenure and them being the only QBs to play (Kragthorpe's series, notwithstanding) since 2012, other than Mett.

Sorry, but "horribly inaccurate" is not fair for the game he just played. He was not Danny Wuerffel, no question. But better than AJ of the past few weeks.

I disagree. I could care less about the few decent passes. One was blown coverage with a player standing alone.

I saw plenty of horribly inaccurate passes....it's just bad. Really really bad. Think or dream all y'all want. Qb play anywhere near these levels means absolutely NO shot at titles.....NONE. 8 wins? Sure. Nothing else

BINGO - how little the back up QB gets to play, even in blowouts ..
Huge Decade long problem with Miles - think he would eventually pick up how that constant trend is killing us down the line.

Not particularly, but I do think at least the staff gave him a better chance to succeed last night and of course A&M's defense is terrible.

No.

I feel a little better about the play calling, with the jet sweep and designed QB runs, but Jennings still only passed for 107 yards. When you play the better defenses in the SEC, you will get beat if you can't throw the ball at all, and he still hasn't proven he can do that.

We still suck horribly at passing. It'd be nice to have an accurate, somewhat smart passer. He still can't seem to progress his reads and doesn't have the best pocket awareness. I think last night at least gives us an idea of how to move forward with the offense, though.

I think Harris has potential to be the best QB in the conference while I think Jennings can be slightly better than Marcus Randall. You can win games with AJ, especially with play calling like last night, but he isn't someone that should be playing over BH next year.

Lee had a ton more ability than Jennings. He just got mind fricked by Miles and company.

The new play set suited him well. I feel better about him than I did before kickoff that's for sure.
True, but at the same time, before this game, most of us had zero confidence in him. The runs were nice, but he still lacks pocket presence & has a glaring inability on most of his throws.

Out of 21, how many? 4? 6? Couldn't have been more than that. Not acceptable for a starting QB in the SEC, and Jennings will probably agree with that. However, "horribly inaccurate" doesn't fairly describe the other 15 to 17 passes he attempted.

Is 4 plenty? Is 6? Because NFL QBs have that many, particularly those in the bottom half. Now, they throw more and that's fair, but I think that piling on and exaggerating the bad points of the QB play, while ignoring his 100+ yards of rushing - many of his rushes were first down runs, too - is just being negative for negativity's sake.

And of course, what am I thinking? This is the rant.

Rant on, my brother, rant on.

Good JL was a little better passing and a lot worse running than either Good AJ or Bad AJ.

Bad JL is one of the worst LSU QBs of all time. So is Bad AJ, and both bad AJ and bad JL were capable of a shockingly high rate of turnovers. On the other hand, we saw bad JL more often than bad AJ.

Good AJ is way better than bad JL. Average JL is probably better than average AJ.

(Both QBs appear to have a significant tendency for hot/cold streaks - that's what I'm saying here.)

People who point to Jennings running as signs of improvement are just completely ignoring the circumstances. We played a terrible AM defense who is extremely young at the Ends and targeted them. Jennings was running untouched with no defenders around him. He wasn't making people miss, or getting tough yardage, or burning secondaries for big gains. He's so far away from a true running threat a la Marshall, Prescott, Newton, Manziel, Tebow it's not even funny. shite he's not even Bo Wallacd level as a runner.

It's great the coaches saw the matchup and implemented a succesful wrinkle along with the jet sweep. That's an improvement. But this is not a sustainable running performance by jennings

Nope --> AJ did have some good runs though. If the A&M QB hadn't thrown that last ball up for grabs(just like Ole Miss), there's a better than average chance that A&M wins. All of the Miles groupies are hailing the new offense, the second coming of Jennings, and the wondrous new jet sweep. These were definitely high points of improvement and were encouraging. BUT THEY WERE ALL AGAINST THE AGGIE DEFENSE WHICH MANY HIGH SCHOOLS COULD MANHANDLE. Before everyone starts celebrating in the streets proclaiming all is well and Alleva should give Miles a raise and extension, let's see how they do in a bowl and next year. Remember, AJ is the man and next year's OL will have to be rebuilt. So, more than likely, we will all hear the standard pumper manifesto next year declaring "our OL is young" and, you guessed it, "wait til next year"

Shudder. Mind-boggling how absolutely willing so many are to drink of the CLM kool-aid. AJ is AJ and he has not shown anything that resembles consistent improvement all year. At least he didn't lay an ostrich egg against the worst defense in the SEC West last night. But that's not the same as improvement.

absolutely not. If LSU's plan is to keep going with jennings next year the results will be similar.
