Hard to say anything here. This is about as shitty a situation as they come. This is actually a kid that was being stupid. I see what the cop saw, him going underneath his sweatshirt grabbing at something. I'm sure the cop thought he was trying to pull a gun out on him, especially with him walking right to him. Sad part is the kid was probably scared and thought going towards them would show he wasn't running. Also was probably trying to hide the bb gun so they wouldn't see it. I know what this 12 year old did was idiotic and that the cop appears justified in suspecting he was drawing a weapon, but it just sucks. I'm sure it will be protested as well because white cop / black male dead. Think this one is truly just an accident resulting from a kid showing poor judgement in what game he wanted to play that day.

At minium this mistake should cost this cop his job. It is a shitty situation but when you make a mistake even when its a true accident consequences have to come.

Our cops should be trained to learn how to handle situations like this without using lethal force. Thats what pisses me off. Idgaf about the race, it scares me that we have cops with this shoot first ask questions later mentality. And yea, you can say a cop has to act in self defense and protect his life as well, and thats cool, I totally agree. But they need to learn how they can avoid being in that situation in the first place. And the problem is they have the generic cop mentality that everyone here hates. Thats what gets them into situations where they feel they have to use lethal force.

Mr. Wayne, you are spot on with your post. Also, it appears as though the officer who fired was so upset afterwards, didn't want to walk back to the spot of the shooting and was bracing himself with the trunk of the crusier.
