Here was my first thought when I saw the style.

Erik Larson is also a great author. He writes nonfiction but presents it in a way that makes you feel like you are reading fiction.
Currently reading "In the Garden of Beasts" by him. About the US Ambassador in Germany in the mid 1930s and his daughter. About his interactions with Hitler and the Nazis. And about his daughter basically sleeping with several big officials while over there(including the former leader of the Gestapo). Very fascinating book if you love WWII stuff(or stuff around that time period).

I am thinking flamingo purse and pink cardigan (50s style) with flamingo embroidered appliques. Black mary janes and cat eye glasses with 50s rockabilly hair.
