Brady Hoke has $3 million reasons to hope Michigan fires him soon

Under the terms of his contract, Hoke would be owed a buyout payment of $3 million if he gets fired without cause through Dec. 31, the final day of his contract year. If he gets fired after Dec. 31, the buyout payment would drop to $2 million.
That extra million would be especially nice for Hoke because his contract is not fully guaranteed. That means getting fired would cost Hoke the chance to earn the minimum of $7.8 million he would earn if he were to complete his initial six-year term.

They aren't going to wait that long to fire him if they know they want to fire him.

Why do people talk about this crap? No coach sits around thinking I hope they fire me so I can get free money. He'll probably get another job, and Michigan will probably only have to pay the difference between his new contract and his old one.

Michigan's lawyers are better than Hokes. Feilding a shitty team is a pretty good "cause"
