Brewster's in Chalmette for an excellent burger and baked potato, or a surprisingly good tuna steak. Back when that place first opened, you could get a tuna steak and loaded baked potato for l$6.99. I don't know how they did it so cheap, and it was better than most places where I paid triple that amount. And unless anything has changed, their big burgers are served on a french bread bun. I still hope to find buns like that any time I walk into a store. The place has improved in appearance, but even when it was a hole in the wall with a reputation for the hostage situation, it was first on my list for a burger or tuna steak anywhere in the New Orleans area.

Someone was telling me about a place down there that trumps Brewsters. Would be an impressive burger.

Going to try to figure it out.

...and Tony's used to blow away Rocky's, but it closed. I've been eating there since the '70s. I damn near cried when I heard the news. By far my favorite place to eat "real" food.
