Saban was the (Mich St) coach
A few years later when LSU hired Saban, I had real misgivings about hiring a HC who couldn't beat our fired HC. Which is to say is if/when CLM ever leaves LSU we can keep that in mind. There are amazing coaches out there, who aren't necessarily big names but will not necessarily be a step down or back. The other lesson is that when a current coaching regime has run its course that fact will be painfully obvious. And equally painful to deal with. But it must be dealt with. Sooner rather than later.

it's just like when a player screws up and gets kicked off the team or jilts us in recruiting, or leaves early, LSU is bigger than any one person, be it a player, coach, AD, whatever, we'll be just fine in the long run, our recent success is not entirely attributable to Saban, Miles, Skip, Alleva, or anyone else, and NO ONE is irreplaceable
