McGraws Farm right there on I49 gets every variety of duck, but that is in open rice fields. If you're in the woods in a flooded slough, gonna get mostly woodies and grays. Maybe the occasional mallard.

we used to hunt some potholes and breaks in alexander forest just south of mcgraws. we always killed our 2 woodies with a few teal early then the big ducks would start coming in about 30 minutes to an hour later. this was several years ago when they used to have a lot of blinds on that property just north of mcgraws ponds that is all grown up now. when they quit hunting that the quantity dropped dramatically like after 1 year. we have killed almost every species in those potholes over the years. I quit hunting there for a few reasons. 1 it is a lot of damn work for 2 woodies and 2 the damn WLF would come in there and make you get out of the water EVERY FREAKIN DAY to check your shite. I mean the same guy checked me 7 days in a row and I still had to show him my license and stamps. The last day I told him that was borderline harassment.

Now for your original question, yes if you build it they will come. right away NO. I would plant it also and flood it and NOT hunt it for several years till they find it and start coming back each year. Also if they can ever get the water situation straight on 165 by the dump and get some birds working there that will also help. Let me know if you need someone to come TEST hunt it for ya. Good luck
