I currently travel about 100k miles per year for my job and my wife is currently pregnant with our first child. The traveling takes a toll on both your health as well as your family life. If i'm gone Tuesday-Friday, I can promise you that for Friday night and most of Saturday I am exhausted and trying to catch up. Then get ready for another trip on either Monday or Tuesday with the same outcome. Being on the road that much leads to bad eating habits, lack of exercise and lots of beat off sessions. There is a lot of burden on my wife because she doesn't cook too much so while i'm gone, she's eating out or not eating at all which isn't good for the little one. When i'm home I can at least help put some veggies into her diet and give her the nutrients that she needs.

I am currently looking to get out of this role because of the travel. I am much happier when i'm at home and not dreading dealing with cancelled flights, delayed flights, hotels, rental car's and amateur travelers who don't know how TSA or security works.

My God you just described me in a past life. I'm much happier now even with less pay being able to be home almost every night.
