Thats my thought as well.
One thing Apple has done almost perfectly is the fingerprint unlock. Just press the button and my phone wakes up unlocked. I'd never want my phone just freely sitting around unlocked due to a wifi signal.

I feel the same way about Knock Code. People have no idea what I'm doing even if I show them.
