Here's that 07-08 championship caliber team and that buzzsaw that was their bench.

You are totally passing over how good that team was at the top. You are talking about a top 5 player in the league, a solid all star level PF, a guy that was probably the best defensive player in the league and then one of the best 3pt shooters/closers in the league. We have some very similar players and situations but we are not as clearly defined. That team had balance and everyone knew where they fit.

I think the bench deal is totally overrated. The problems we have is first our superstar is still learning and growing (he'll figure all that out in time). Second we do not have a strong number 2 player. Third we are not tough enough (not a dirty/mean player in the bunch). Lastly we have too many 3rd level guys that they are chocking each other out, so that none of them can really shine.

Evans, Holiday and Gordon can all be good players. But their roles/minutes/positions change almost every game. It's hard to get in the groove that way. Plus their styles clash with one another. I don't think any of the three can play to the fullest capability with one of the others. I think 2 of the 3 should go. It's addition by subtraction. But they aren't going anywhere of consequence until they figure the backcourt out.

Check (AD)

a solid all star level PF

Oversold, but still check (Ryno)

Oversold, but still check (Asik)

Massively oversold, he was a nice spacer, but we have multiple players on this team that grade out better.

Third we are not tough enough

People like to act like we were going in punching people and flagrant fouling with West/Tyson. Just wait til someone cheap shots AD. I'm pretty sure that the "toughness" you are looking for will show up. I don't know if you could name one team in the NBA that wins games by beating the crap out of people other than "maybe" Memphis.

And also totally passing over that he is the only person who thought that team was truly championship caliber

AD is playing like arguably the best player in the league right now

a solid all star level PF

Anderson is very close

a guy that was probably the best defensive player in the league

Asik is a top defensive center

one of the best 3pt shooters/closers in the league.

We have jrue/Tyreke/AD for closers.

That's playing time and you can tell they're slowly but surely figuring it out.

I think the bench deal is totally overrated.

Not really but I can see your point.

Second we do not have a strong number 2 player.

Tyreke hasn't been perfect but he's well on his way to this. He's averaging 17/6/7 and his outside shot has been so much better. He's been arguably the most consistent player outside of AD(and maybe Jrue/Asik).

Third we are not tough enough (not a dirty/mean player in the bunch)

So?

Lastly we have too many 3rd level guys that they are chocking each other out, so that none of them can really shine.

This has been a lie so far.

quote:

Evans, Holiday and Gordon can all be good players. But their roles/minutes/positions change almost every game.

Jrue/Tyreke's roles haven't changed much if at all from game to game. Gordons been awful on offense but that's for another time.

It's hard to get in the groove that way.

Only gordon agrees with this

I don't think any of the three can play to the fullest capability with one of the others.

Tyreke/Jrue disagree

2 of them Tyreke/jrue aren't going anywhere. They're playing very well,Gordon has been awful outside of defense.
