Use the free version of AVG

Has AVG improved? Because many years ago I recall it being a nagging, intrusive resource hog.

For prevention, Windows 8/8.1's native security is more than sufficient. And I am torrenting movies, music, games, and software constantly.

2014/15 are much better. Sure they try to sell you the paid version but what "free" program doesnt?
Its far superior to MSE on vista/W7 machines. Ive noticed you can have MSE on a W7 machine and it will find nothing, pull it off and install AVG and AVG picks up malware.
Really the bottom line is most people are fricking stupid and it doesnt matter what they use for antivirus they are still going to get some type of junk.

As for the apple fanboi, I would say the ratio of malware for Windows vs OSX is about the same as worldwide market share for the two. We see far too many Macs with some reskin of "optimizer pro" or some bullshite come in the shop to believe otherwise. Again, fact is, people are dumb and cant use their computers regardless of platform.
