In their eyes it was probably a petty complaint, but no seatbelt tickets, expired inspection stickers by one month, and busted taillight tickets are all pretty fricking petty as well

Agree with you on all but this. Tail lights are there to indicate you're stopping. Please make sure all three of yours are operating.
