Off topic in a way but relevant.
I think the only way you get into the playoff is to win your conference/CCG or be the best independent. This committee is not about finding the "best" team it's about finding a national champ. These rankings are just window dressing right now. Nowhere in the duties of the committee does it say find the "best". That term is so ambiguous judging teams.
I think they're only "seeding" teams not ranking.
