pretty much. Its not creationism, while I think that is a load of horseshite, he is a young earth creationist. that is a whole different ballgame.

Yes, if you cannot accept information to make decisions you will not be a good steward of the nation. WE aren't talking Intelligent Design, we are talking young earth creationism. The earth is 6000 years old, you have to deny who swaths of science for which there is strong empirical evidence.

It makes him a less viable candidate because its an easy target for detractors. YEC is a demonstrably false idea about our reality, and it is incredibly easy to paint those who believe in it as lacking critical thinking skills at best and dumb at worst.
It's part of his ideology, it is not influenced by reason, science or rational argument. That's fine, and it doesn't necessarily reflect a lack of intelligence. He is a far better and smarter doctor than I'll ever be. That doesn't change the fact that he will be portrayed as another dumb conservative with a fancy degree.
