The home, in the 3900 block of Prytania, belongs to Mario Zervigon, who has led fundraising efforts for various political candidates.

ATF agents are on the scene, along with New Orleans police and fire officials. A neighbor told WWL's Paul Murphy that two cats were killed in the fire.

Zervigon's friend, Jeff Cantin, was on the scene helping and said the two cars that were burned were parked across the street from each other and a neighbor reported hearing a window break before the fire started.

This election cycle, Zervigon worked on the campaigns of Judge Bernadette D'Souza and Forest Bradley-Wright.

D'Souza won her race easily, but Bradley-Wright is in a high-stakes runoff for Public Service Commission.

Fire investigators on site made a preliminary ruling of aggravated arson, Cantin said.

Damn, somebody mad they lost the election.
