The Republican wave that swept over the states left Democrats at their weakest point in state legislatures since the 1920s.

Everything went in the direction of the GOP as Republicans seized new majorities in the West Virginia House, Nevada Assembly and Senate, New Hampshire House, Minnesota House and New York Senate, The West Virginia Senate is now tied.

What a complete and utter arse kicking.

For 2016 implications, The one state legislature that Republicans really needed to get control of was Kentucky. Democrats managed to hold on to the House of Reps there last night.

If repubs won the state house in Kentucky, they would have had no problem amending statues to allow Rand to run for Senator and President simultaneously. Democrats have no room to argue against that considering they let Biden run for Sentator and Vice President in 2008.

New Hampshire House

Republicans gained 57 seats in re-taking the NH House ! They also increased their majority in the NH Senate, as well as re-taking the majority on the 5-member Executive Council, while taking back one of the two Dem. held seats in the U.S. House., all despite Shaheen holding on to beat Brown.

Given the party platforms were roughly reversed in 1920, this doesn't mean much. Only the last 50 years or so is relevant when talking current party models.
