Styx should never be mentioned in the same breath as Rush

Styx blows all the dicks, while Rush actually put out some pretty good shite.

It happens. Some people actually thought Ole Miss was good for a while.

Rush is way way better than Styx, but I like Styx though.

Rush is awesome. You must not like listening to talented musicians.

Saying you don't get it is one thing. I feel that way about a number of critically-acclaimed musical acts.

However, saying that either band, particularly one of the greatest power trios in music history, is "horrible", is just absolute lunacy and an opinion limited to you and a few other narrow-minded individuals with a similarly shallow taste in musical arrangements and lyrics.

Rush was awesome. Styx had a couple of good songs (Tommy Shaw) but if I remember right were loved by chicks.

If you don't like Rush in their prime, then it's just not your kind of music.

Styx is enjoyable in a "they're so bad that they're almost good" way, like the Shaggs.

Rush is extremely talented but the song writing is so bad and the vocals so horrific that they turn me off a lot of their stuff. I can see why people would like them though.

Rush is fricking phenomenal. Every album, every song. Pure genius. From lyrics to the bass rhythms.

Eat shite.

Styx was loved by teenage girls. Most of their music is annoying, synthesized organ shite.

Getty Lee of Rush has an annoying voice, and they aren't the best songwriters, but their technical skill and virtuosity as a group is unquestionable. Getty Lee would throw down some increadibly complicated bass riffs in mixed meter while singing and playing piano with his feet (I've seen him do it). All while Neil Pert plays a 3,000 piece drum set like he's an entire drum line and drum corp pit crew (complete with marimba and vibraphone). You have to remember, when listening to Rush, that that's only 3 people playing...and that's what they sound like live. They are actually all playing that shite at the same time. Incredible.

What are you? 12?

Rush kicked some arse in the day. Neil Peart is one of the best drummers of all time man.

Tommy Shaw from Styx is a great musician as well. He played with Nugent in the Damn Yankees and rocked.

Styx has a few good old songs like Blue Collar Man. The latter stuff when they got enough of Dennis DeYoung's bullshite and got rid of him after that Mr Roboto crap sucked arse for sure. Saw them in BR LSU Assembly center for my first concert in 78 I think.
