we weren't going to take noel. it is almost a certainty we were going pg with that pick if we would've kept it. noel was for the 76ers

We already had AD, Ryno and Lopez at the time. Noel would have become Derrick Williams 2.0 because of lack of opportunity if the Pelicans had drafted him. I think Demps would have traded the pick for someone else, Burke and MCW aren't that great and Noel was the best talent in the draft even though he was a bad fit with the Pels. The question isn't did we make a mistake not drafting Noel, the question is, what other trade options were available to us.
