If, a massive if, Gordon stays healthy for 70+ games and is productive (interested defense, good FG %s, etc) he just might opt out for 2 reasons.
1: Injury risk. Does he trust his body to hold up for one more season as an expiring contract while the Jody Meeks of the world are getting $7M/year?
2: Thinking about his 4th contract. He opts out, cashes in on a 3 or 4 year deal, he hits UFA again as a 29 or 30 year old player. If he remains productive, he can nab another 3 or 4 year deal for good money again.
