I do feel bad for the post I made about him a few weeks ago. He was a character and a half. Wish he was still here calling me an idiot.

The LGBT activists are often outliers from the gay community as a whole. The few homosexuals that I know tend to be vaguely middle of the road like most people.

I am beyond sick and tired of some of the social conservatives' bullshite. Grow up, for crying out loud. "Oh no, a gay Republican! What if he breaks into our homes in the middle of the night to gay marry us?!?!"

I thought Social Conservatives weren't single issue voters?

I would actually say the exact opposite of this. Its good for the LGBT community say its not good enough to be one of us, you have to advocate for us.
Completely reasonable IMHO.
Its about the exact opposite of what blacks do for obama, which this board doesn't understand.

I'm not sure how much influence either group is going to have on this election. I have some gay friends in San Diego that are voting for DeMaio. I do think it's ridiculous the gay rights groups are actively campaigning against him.
NOM is doing this in several other races as well. There's a race a Massachusetts and some other place that I can't recall where they are actively campaigning against the Republican candidate.
They are TERRIFIED that gay rights are gaining a foothold in the GOP. Go to NOMBlog and you'll see what I mean. They know they have lost the marriage war and feel like all sides are closing in on them.

Social Conservatives = Big Govt Liberals.
This is further proof. The only difference between the two is what they want the government controlling and how. Both despicable, Both bigoted, and both deserve to have their shite kicked in.
ETA: I had a gay roommate couple once, and they were both staunch libertarian/conservatives. They were not only some of the best roommates I ever had, but I would also fully trust the "husband"(quotes used b/c they were against gay marriage being recognized by the state) in office over 99% of all politicians I've ever heard of. These "conservative" dimwits in San Diego are pulling the same shite Thad Cochran did, and they probably despise Thad Cochran(I hate that old frick too) for doing it.

Well you know how it is, you give the gays an inch and they take your whole dick.

That wins the slow golf clap of approval. Well played.

If any of those social conservatives make it to heaven, they are gonna be flabbergasted at the fact there are gays up there with them.
Excellent.
Simple and succinctly enough sums up how stupid, backwards and shortsighted these social conservatives are. They're getting exactly what they deserve allowing a democrat to be reelected again over a solid republican they feel icky about over what he does in his personal and private life.

And what does "advocate for us" mean? Can he not advocate for gays by lowering their taxes and working to improve the economy?
Maybe he isn't thinking along demographic lines, but wants to do what is best for everyone? Maybe that's what elected leaders should do?
Because, push comes to shove, there are a hell of a lot more straight people and if people just lined up and voted for their group without regard for society as a whole the LGBT would come out as big losers in that contest.

CNN (that's CNN, not Fox) ran a brutal hit piece on DeMaio a few weeks ago, as vicious as I have ever seen.
It was all about the sexual charges of the former staffer. It sounded like the a commercial for the Dem. candidate. I'll see if I can find it.
Just before the DeMaio-Peters debate last night, it was announced that Uncle Joe would be flying in from DC to hold a rally for Peters on Saturday. I see a "Biden-ism" coming from 3,000 miles away.
eta / link to the above-mentioned CNN 9-minute spot which I just found.

Personally, I don't understand why 'social conservatives' are voting against a guy that pretty much agrees with them across the board - if he sucks, run someone in the primary against him in 2 years. Why you'd rather win no battles than win 90% is beyond me. And for republicans to relevant in southern California, they have to get over the gay thing.
As for the LBGT 'community,' I have no issue with backing someone that more closely aligns to your views. That's how elections should work - not voting for the person that looks like you, talks like you, has same lifestyle as you. Clearly not an overall shift with LGBT but no problem with it here.

You should probably read the story you linked before making that accusation:
quote:
Of the three gay Republicans running for office this fall, he’s the only one who wasn’t endorsed by the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund.
So if the gays aren't supporting him because he's a Republican, why are they supporting the two other gay republicans running?
Gays in SD have rejected DeMaio for years because of his self-hating past and coddling the far right. He now waves the rainbow flag because skeletons have come out his closet, which caused the far right yo dump him.
IOW he pulled a OJ/Michael Jackson. He didn't want anything to do with gays and lesbians until he got in trouble. Now he's out and proud. But unlike the black community which welcomed them back, the gays are saying no ma'am Pam. We'll take the Democrat who has always been on our side.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. Here's a rundown of that train wreck. LINK
