As far as your post is concerned. Here's a map of the lots around Tiger Stadium. Honestly, you can't really go wrong with many of the lots. I'm sure some people will chime in with their own tailgate locations.
Maybe change your title to "First Time Tailgater. Help Needed!"

The best piece of advice is to wear your favorite teams clothing (unless you are an Alabama fan). Since it appears you are a Cubs fan, if each of you wear Cubs gear, people will automatically know that you are checking off a bucket list and will bend over backwards to make sure you have a good time.
Get there early, get plenty of rest before, roam around the campus and follow the above advice.......we'll take care of the rest!
