Thought they are already stepping it up from last season. Excellent insight from both.

I loved what Joel had to say about winning at home…he said 30 is the magic number for home wins. I agree. For any shot at all, the Pels have to dominate home court, especially against teams like the Magic who are going to finish in the lottery. Great start tonight.

JM has been fantastic from jump street. DW struggled early last season. But he's so much better now, and they actually have a pretty cool chemistry going on now.

Side note, JM said he caught the Saints game on Oak St. Sunday night. I wonder where he was. Smokin' doobs at the chess tables at the Maple Leaf maybe?

Joel has been great since his first game in Nola. Dude's voice and tone is classic and he's nba knowledgable. He also knows where to draw the line with the homerism! I think he'd still be in LA if it weren't for the change with the cable co out there. David has improved a lot. He was pretty bad at first with his stuttering, stumbling and dead spots. Joel groomed him and made him a man at the table!

I dont LOVE David but he has gotten better. He doesnt quite have a personality but hes solid. Comparing him to Stephen Howard makes him look like Howard Cosell.

Sidenote: NBA on TNT might be the best sports show on tv. Those guys are so funny. Its like they let a barbershop on tv. They just rag on each other in the best possible way.

I still don't know how we pulled Meyers. He's obviously highly thought of around the league. He also does broadcasting on NBA XM Radio (talk shows) throughout the playoffs. He legit loves this city too.

I was getting ready to same the same exact thing. I wonder if they decided it was worth it to go big on the money for him with the whole Pelicans rebrand and FSNO launching. Dude is one of the best in the league, and seems to really enjoy working and living in New Orleans. Wesley has come a long way, and they were really well with each other.

And Jen Hale definitely doesn't hurt the broadcast either.

The Lakers switched from Fox Sports to I think Time Warner. Joel had a contract with Fox Sports and no team to call for at the same time that Fox Sports took over the Hornets/Pelicans broadcasts. It came down to lucky timing. It does seem odd that Joel's contract would run longer than the network's contract with the team, but I'm pretty sure I read something along those lines. Perhaps they just had an option on him.

Like i stated earlier, the shitty mess that went down with time warner left him out. They wanted their own guy. I think it went like that. Cant quite remember. But im with u. How did he end up in Nola during the team's low point? What was the draw....attraction?

See post above mine!

Joel is outstanding. No surprise there. Fortunately, I think Wesley is finding his way, too. Good for him ... and us!
